So, you’ve got to put together a resume that best highlights your skills and why you’d be a great fit for the role. Read on to know what you need to include in your resume to create a winning impression with hiring managers.

Contact information

Contact information should, ideally, always be placed right at the top of your resume. It needs to be quick and easy to read. Make sure to include your name and address, email address, phone number(s), and the address for your blog, website, or online portfolio.

Objective statement

This is a summary statement that essentially grabs the attention of employers by highlighting your past accomplishments and qualifications. To be effective, the objective statement should be pretty concise, with about 4-5 lines of text. It should also be written specifically for the position that you’re applying for. Make sure to also use keywords when creating your objective statement.

Employment history

You can showcase your employment history in different ways. The most straightforward of these is to add all your positions in chronological order. List your most recent or current position and work backward from there. When listing your employment details, it’s important that you mention your job title, the name of the company you worked at, and the city and state in which it is located.

Education

Regardless of where exactly you’re currently in your career, it’s important that you list your educational accomplishments, beginning with your highest or most recent degree. Include the location and name of the institution you attended, your field of study, and the degree you received.
